Higashi for the Anthropocene | アントロポセンの干菓
On October 25, 002014, six guests (Heather Davis, Evie Garf, Lisa Hirmer, Rachel Sussman, Nicola Twilley and Marina Zurkow) joined smudge studio at Kajitsu restaurant, New York City, for a performative research project entitled Higashi for the Anthropocene.
Higashi sweets, designed for the Anthropocene, were created by Wagashi Asobi, Tokyo and Kagizen-Yoshifusa, Kyoto, in collaboration with Jamie Kruse. Higashi for the Anthropocene were offered alongside traditional, autumn-inspired higashi and a bowl of matcha tea prepared by Ippodo tea, New York.
The gathering offered hospitality and respite to our guests, and invited collective imagining of new ways to inhabit the Anthropocene in our daily lives and aesthetic practices.
